Research Data Netherlands (RDNL) is a national coalition of research support organisations with the mission to promote the implementation and long-term sustainability of FAIR research data in the Netherlands. RDNL is a consortium consisting of DANS (institute of the KNAW), SURF, 4TU. ResearchData and Health-RI and is jointly responsible for the website and the broader platform. As an expert network, RDNL offers training courses to increase the skill level of data professionals in the field of research data management and data stewardship.
In these terms of use you will find the rules of conduct for the use of the RDNL website and you will also find the rights and obligations that apply when using the RDNL website.
1. Definitions
These Terms of Use use a number of definitions. The definitions are capitalised.
Visitor: Natural person who visits the RDNL website.
Content: All content (such as events, messages, information about RDNL activities) on the RDNL website.
Participant: Natural person who visits the RDNL website and who is redirected outside the RDNL website for registration (for a training).
Terms of Use: These Terms and Conditions of Use.
RDNL or RDNL consortium: consortium consisting of DANS (institute of the KNAW), SURF, 4TU and Health-RI. RDNL is jointly responsible for the website and the broader RDNL platform. Within the consortium, the parties have made agreements about the division of tasks and the division of liability.

2. Rights and obligations of the Visitor
2.1 A Visitor has the following rights on the RDNL website: viewing and searching for Content on the website and downloading Content.
2.2 The Visitor shall comply with these Terms of Use.
2.3 The Visitor uses the RDNL website in accordance with these terms and conditions of use, with specific reference to Article 3 Misuse.
3. Misuse
3.1 Misuse includes:
- Use access to applications linked to the RDNL website in such a way that it violates the intellectual property rights of third parties
- Use the RDNL website to advertise products, services or a company;
- Distributing computer viruses, bugs, Trojan horses, or other malicious code;
- Excessively criticizing an idea, article or person;
- Infringe any intellectual property or other proprietary rights of others;
3.2 It is prohibited to use the RDNL website on any of the above-mentioned forms of Misuse or in any other way that is not in accordance with social norms and values.
4. Consequences of Misuse
4.1 RDNL will inform the Visitor in the event of Misuse.
4.2 If RDNL has reason to believe that the Visitor is violating or threatens to violate rules or obligations as described in these Terms of use, the Visitor is obliged, in consultation with RDNL, to end the said infringement as soon as possible and to prevent it in the future.
4.3 RDNL also has the right to take other measures that are necessary to protect the RDNL website, Visitors and/or third parties against damage, hindrance or infringements of rights.
5. Liability
5.1 RDNL accepts no liability on the part of the Visitor or third parties arising from the Visitor's failure to comply with the Terms and Conditions of Use.
6. Duration of the RDNL website
6.1 RDNL will ensure that the website is available and it may be temporarily unavailable or restrict the use of the RDNL website without prior notice insofar as this is necessary for the reasonably necessary maintenance or necessary adjustments and/or improvements to the website to be carried out by RDNL.
6.2 RDNL is not liable for any damage resulting from the (temporary) unavailability of the RDNL website.

8. Governing Law
8.1 These terms and conditions are governed by Dutch law and the competent court is the District Court of Midden-Nederland, located in Utrecht.
9. Changes to the Terms of Use
9.1 RDNL reserves the right to amend these Terms of Use as well as the privacy statement.
9.2 We, therefore, advise you to regularly check this page to see if any changes have been made.
