RDNL promotes FAIR research data by offering training and expertise for data support.

Who are we?

About Research Data Netherlands

Research Data Netherlands (RDNL) is a national coalition of data service providers and expertise networks whose mission is to promote implementation and long-term sustainability of FAIR research data in the Netherlands. The coalition was founded in 2013 by 4TU.ResearchData and Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS). The coalition was joined by SURF in September 2014 and by Dutch Techcentre for Life Sciences (DTL), now Health-RI in February 2022.

The RDNL partners aim to help data support professionals and researchers navigate the national and international data landscape to choose the appropriate data services for their requirements. As an expert network, RDNL offers training to increase the skill level of research support professionals in research data management and data stewardship. The coalition is open to other national organisations that are committed to sustainable data stewardship.

What do we do?

The RDNL mission is to promote the implementation of data stewardship in all phases of research. To this end, the RDNL partnership facilitates knowledge exchange and capacity building across all domains of science, and provides expertise and training in the field of data management, FAIR implementation and long-term data accessibility and preservation.

Training support staff in research data management complements the provision of technical services. The training ensures that data stewards and other support professionals can effectively support researchers within their organisations in the various aspects of research data management.

By combining knowledge, skills and infrastructure, RDNL partners deliver a powerful and coherent national training programme for data stewardship.
