Successful social event for data supporters01 October 2015
Twenty data supporters from various research institutes met in Utrecht on 24 September. During this afternoon, which was organised by RDNL, they shared knowledge and experiences about Research Data Management.
All attendees are former participants of the course offered by RDNL, nowadays called Essentials 4 Data Support. The afternoon began with presentations by the University of Amsterdam and Avans University of Applied Science about their approaches to help researchers with Research Data Management. Animated discussions made clear that a wide range of support is possible, although it requires a lot of creativity, policy and involving many stakeholders within the institution.
Essentials 4 Data Support is an introductory course for those who provide support to researchers in storing, managing, archiving and sharing their research data (data support staff). With this course, Research Data Netherlands aims to contribute to the professional development of and coordination between data support staff. This social event brings together generations of students since 2011.
